The pursuit of psychological presence in paint comes down, eventually, to material control. The more precisely I can manage consistency, pigment load, and drying behaviour, the more directly the internal state transfers into the surface — without the medium correcting or softening it.

These tools started as studio problems I kept running into. Now other painters use them too.

I needed a reliable way to formulate oil sticks — controlling the exact wax-to-oil ratio per pigment so the mark behaves the way I intend it to. No guessing.

Pigmnt is a formula calculator built on a database of 200+ pigments with their oil absorption data and CIN references. Set ratios for soft, medium, or firm sticks. Save recipes. The Pigment Lab lets you mix pigments and export your own formulas.
